We are forcing the issues. We expect competence. We must have attention to those things that affect our welfare, safety, and value. We are not content with being silenced anymore, we cannot as a community sit on our hands and be ignored.

Here are the latest results of our persistence:
-Fire Exit/Escape Lighting. We contacted the Fire Marshall for San Antonio and asked for a comprehensive analysis of our fire safety situation at WT. We specifically asked for code enforecement of emergency exits from the parking garage among other concerns. The result is new NOX boxes on the outside of the garages so that the Fire Department can easily access the garages without any assistance, we now have a push bar access from the upper garage people door (the door that is used by pet owners and the door that goes from the building to the driveway and tennis courts), we have mutiple new Exit lights, we now have a push button emergency access point to the lower parking garage (at the driveway exit door lower garage) and soon to be installed push bar emergency exit system on the lower garage tunnel into the main building (this door goes to the outside of the building where the amazing 'garden' (lol) is located.
Our concerns were that in the event of a fire in the parking garage, there was very little way(s) to get out of the parking garage, and NO lighted directions, not to mention that the two gated doors in the breezeways were padlocked. Not anymore!!!
Garage Lighting. This is a biggie. While we appreciate the board installing energy saving lights, the parking garages are dark unless actuated by motion. Now, the upper garage is partially lighted at all times, and we are insisting the lower garage follow suit. This matter is critically important as none of us should enter a dark garage.
Fire Alarm Panel. We are in frequent contact with the City of San Antonio, the SAFD, and the Fire Marshall office with our insistance that the partially inoperable and obsolete existing fire panel is replaced immediately.
Fire Sprinkler System and the law. We are in frequent contact with the Fire Department about getting this critical upgrade started immediately. The incompetent leaders of WT have squandered 9 years of lead time to start...and now we will be paying about $1.5 million for what would have cost us less than $200K 8-9 years ago. Fiduciary failure of epic proportions.
Coming Soon. We are going to force the issue about an escape plan by floor, and emergency evacuation of our most vulnerable residents. We remain concerned and will pursue the upper garage access point for the west wall emergency exit enhancements. We are insisting that a doorway be installed in the lower garage to provide access to the west wall emergency exit in conjunction with the deterioration and rebuild of that area. We will also address panic emergency exits at all main doors, and push button access and exits. Stay tuned, we are working!!!
