Wurzbach Tower Condominiums, San Antonio

AMENITIES !
OR IN OTHER WORDS, WHAT AMENITIES????

Under Construction
Amenities. Conjures up a hopeful set of thoughts of things that benefit a property. And thatis usually the case for Condo properties. Not exactly with Wurzbach Tower though. Let's take a little tour......

-
Tennis Court. Wurzbach Towers' tennis court is, well, worthless. It is locked up and unusable. The court surface is severely cracked and dangerous to played on. It has been unusable for years. That is a long time....
-
Dog walk area. This is an open un-fenced area along Von Scheele Drive. The grounds for this area is a wasteland of dirt and weeds. The management of WT has failed to keep the irrigation sprinkler watering system operational and the once nice grass cover has completely died, leaving in its place weeds, erosion and dirt, which of course becomes mud when it rains. Oh, if you want to use the poop bags to clean up after your pet, they aren't located in the dog area.
-
Landscape. We consider this an amenity. Our once lush landscape is now essentially gone, dead, removed.
-
Pool. Needs to be resurfaced, Leaks and needs frequent filling. A nice amenity. The chaise lounges are in need of replacing. The pool orientation leaves it quite chilly to use even in the hottest months.
-
Hot Tub. We have never seen it used. It is frequently inoperable. Appears old
-
Gymnasium. Under construction, and has been for months. Unfinished. New paint compliments of one hard working forward thinking board member and the maintenance staff. New equipment compliments of one board member. Situated in a purpose room that is curtained off with ancient musty window shading...we don't know of any other gym that is screened off in a claustrophobic atmosphere.

Fire Alarm Panel. An antique of such magnitude that it is partial inoperable. The usable life of this fire panel was 20 years, making this panel obsolete. We should be on our third panel, but because of incompetence and penny pinching, the board management thinks our safety is worth a gamble. With our continuing direct contact with the San Antonio Fire Department, Fire Marshall's office, and the Inspector for High Rise buildings relating to the City of San Antonio Fire Prevention Law of 2015, we are pursuing every effort to get the Wurzbach Tower to comply with the installation of a new fire panel AND the immediate installation of the required sprinkler system on every floor of the building. Incompetent and fiduciary irresponsible board management has avoided the law mandate of installing sprinklers in the common areas for nine years. NINE YEARS! We must have at least 50% of the floors operationally sprinklered by January 1, 2025. That is an impossible task given that the fire sprinkler contractor prefers to have the new fire panel installed prior to the other contractor installing the sprinklers. This seems to rise to a serious fiduciary failure by the board of directors. More details on this subject on the page FIRE MANDATE.
-
Maintenance personnel. A shining light in our sad broken down building. Our staff is asked to do illegal and sketchy things. A number of former staff have quit working at Wurzbach Tower because of a hostile workplace, uncertain hours, favoritism, harassment, etc. For now, we have a maintenance staff that works hard to do the impossible; keep up with the demands of an incompetent board management that is unsuited for the task of maintaining a high rise structure, obsolete systems that should have been updated/replaced years ago, deferred maintenance for decades, and instruction to perform tasks that they are not licensed or trained to do, often putting these amazing men in danger of injury or death.
-
Maid/Custodian Services. Ahhh, the staff. Our wonderful hard working staff. Forced to sign non disclosure statements in an effort by the controlling board management into compliance and silence. It is clear to us that the staff is frustrated and disgusted at the working conditions imposed on them from an overbearing, incompetent, mean spirited management. Indeed, the frequent turn over in staffing over the last several years represents the results of micro management and ever changing rules and guidelines.
-
Barbecue Pits. Great and thanks. But these are locked up and only accessible by permission.
-
Library and Study. They must mean the library that is double locked up and only accessible to the board and office staff. Not available to the owners.
-
Vegetable Garden. Wait, what? The board management thinks that a few clay pots between two multi story buildings without direct sunshine or a water source constitutes a garden??!! This definitely reminds us of the saying "you're not from around here are you?" This is so badly executed, we almost think it must be a joke.
